Supportive, progressive, small-group surf coaching meets the pure joy of Cornwall’s Atlantic swells.

Our cosmic Cornish coastline is the perfect setting for surf lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced surfers. Within a short distance, you’ll find everything from soft, rolling waves over sandy seabeds to larger, faster breaks for more experienced surfers.

All lessons are led by CoE-accredited instructors and supported by dedicated surf theory and video analysis sessions, designed to sharpen technique and supercharge your progression.

Our coaching is divided into three levels: the Beginner Surfer looking to catch their first waves; the Intermediate Surfer ready to explore unbroken waves and improve their core manoeuvres; and the Advanced Surfer with years of experience who wants to take their surfing to the next level.

Every surfer remembers that first time that they stood up on a wave. At Peak, we want everyone to be able to feel the freedom and excitement of riding their first wave, and many more. Level 1 will teach you basic theory and techniques of surfing.

Level 1 surf lessons will teach you everything from how to carry your board to how to catch a wave. Our professional instructors create a fun and encouraging environment for you to feel safe and comfortable in the water and to eventually be able to surf small white-water waves all on your own. Above all, we want you to have a blast.

Level 1 Content Includes:

  • Understanding your surf equipment

  • Learning safety within the water

  • Learning how to pop up on a surfboard

  • Understand how to fall safely and control your board

  • Paddling techniques

  • Stand up and surf white water

Wave type: Small white-water waves that end at the shore
Water depth: Water in which you can mostly stand

SURF LEVEL 2: INTERMEDIATE

The second level of surfing will teach surfers to improve on the basic surf skills, catch waves before they break, become strong paddlers, and learn fundamental maneuvers like turns.

Our instructors will teach and support you to catch green waves and ride the face of the wave instead of riding straight in the white water. This stage of surfing involves learning how to be in the ‘lineup’, waiting respectfully for your next wave. You’ll get to improve your technique in the water, increase your wave frequency, and finish the week with confident turns along unbroken waves.

Level 2 Content Includes:

  • Reviewing surf basics

  • Improving your take off and paddling techniques

  • Improving your stance on the board

  • Passing the break, and paddling to the outside

  • Learning to catch green (unbroken) waves

  • Learning how to adjust your speed on the board

  • Learning to angle your take off to ride left or right

Wave type: Small green waves
Water depth: Water in which you will have to swim or paddle

SURF LEVEL 3: ADVANCED

Welcome to the core-lords!

Level 3 surfers are those who are confident in catching green waves without assistance. Our expert instructors will be able to adjust the class according to your needs. Advanced surf lessons will aid in improving your ability to read the waves and develop your surf technique. Video analysis with your surf coaches will help to fine tune your skills in the water.

Level 3 Content Includes:

  • Learning how to make/improve manoeuvres on the face of the wave: cut-backs, re-entry, floaters, snaps

  • Learning how to generate speed

  • Improving your wave reading ability

  • Choosing the right equipment for specific conditions

  • Strengthening paddling and duck diving skills (clean-up sets happen!)

Wave type: larger green waves. Beach or reef breaks, with barrels depending on conditions.
Water depth: Water in which you will have to swim or paddle
